Manifesto
Eros Publications publishes monographs on desire and love, exploring these themes through photography, philosophy, art, and literature. Our focus lies on shaping narratives for the future, free from the constraints of outdated imperatives.
We are an independent publisher that aims to challenge reductive interpretations of desire. In a culture where this concept is fragmented and often misunderstood, we aim to offer an alternative definition: expansive, profound, and anchored in human connection.
Inspired by the classical conception of desire as a divine mediator, we see it as the force that enables human connection and communication. Various myths about the birth of Eros agree on his role as the fundamental force that allows the world to exist. It is the divine within the human. In this sense, eroticism represents love in all its forms.
As Sapphic poems remind us, eroticism permeates every human connection. In every relationship, there is always a lover, a beloved, and a supernatural force shaping a sweet and bitter desire. This multifaceted nature of desire connects us, giving meaning to longing and revealing its profound ethical dimension.
Desire brings us closer, bridging the gap between the self and the other. It allows us to engage with the impossibility of completeness while embracing the fullness of our yearning. Eros reminds us that we are not impervious beings; we influence and affect one another, creating multiple forms of connection that integrate ethical, intellectual, and emotional dimensions. Desire is an affirmation of life.
Our limited-edition monographs are printed locally using the finest environmentally friendly materials. We collaborate with emerging and established artists and thinkers to present unique, alternative perspectives on this profound and universal subject.
